2019 - 2022 - 5G-VICTORI - 5G Transmission

With ever-more rapid transmission of large amounts of data and lightning-fast response times, 5G offers new possibilities to both private and professional users. Changing user behaviour and the enormous amounts of video and audio data involved require more flexibility, speed and stability of transmission to ensure the availability of live and on-demand content.

The 5G-VICTORI project supports the development of 5G by looking at accompanying new uses and challenges.

    The 5G-VICTORI project supports the development of 5G by looking at accompanying new uses and challenges. Before the commercial roll-out of the technology, 5GVICTORI demonstrates the resulting benefits for users. In Berlin and across Europe, data is being gathered to support the optimisation of the 5G network and the development of future-oriented broadcasting networks.

    The project examines and evaluates input from media, industry, traffic and energy networks. One use case to be investigated will be the delivery of enormous quantities of data in the shortest possible time to passengers of the Deutsche Bahn, the German national railway system.

    5G-VICTORI helps create the infrastructure for supporting a wide variety of 5G use cases and plays an important role in ensuring that future 5G networks will be fit for purpose.

    rbb Innovationprojekte

    rbb is part of the Berlin cluster within the 5G-VICTORI project. We are focusing on the possibilities offered by 5G for linear and on-demand content distribution.

    In this scenario we will test the delivery of selected rbb content to users of the German train system, the Deutsche Bahn. 5G will enable the delivery of large amounts of data in very short periods of time.

    We will also research the potential integration of 5G technology in the optimisation of content production.
