2017 - 2020 - Hyper360 - Immersive Media

The advent of 360° video brings new possibilities to the media landscape, whether via PC, smartphone, VR glasses or TV. The goal is the total immersion of the viewer within the scene.

And it is exactly this topic which the Hyper360 project addressed.

The Project

The Hyper360° project enabled editors to enrich their 360° reports and films with additional content. The 'film in film' functionality allows the integration of either 2D or 360° material. The intention was to heighten the viewer’s sense of the space and to strengthen viewer immersion in events.

We also tested more efficient production methods for 3D video. We created new tools for making 3D models of presenters and actors, which can then be used in 360° scenes. This allows for expanded moderation and the addition of virtual ‘companions’ to lead viewers through the video. These ‘companions’ can be positioned anywhere to accompany a viewer through the virtual space.

rbb used the project outcomes to conceive, create and publish interactive 360° content.

The Innovations team cooperated with four editorial teams to create 360° concepts. The developed pilot applications were tested with users.
